The Comprehensive Planning Advisory Committee met on March 4 to develop goals for St. James and decide how to best work to achieve those goals as a long-term community development project. Committee members have been working on refining a vision statement that will be recommended to the city as well as deciding what areas in St. James need to be addressed to fully take advantage of all St. James has to offer.
If you read this column in last week’s paper, you probably noticed the following short comment: Why the coroner needs a taxpayer-purchased vehicle is still unclear.
Darren Dake took offense to that comment and submitted a letter to the editor. If you haven’t read it yet, do so now before continuing with this column.
“Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!” Pirates and adventure on the high seas are coming to town. Steelville Middle School will present a musical, Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson on Friday March 19 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 20 at 4 p.m. Both performances will take place in the SMS Gymnasium. Tickets are $2 for adults, $1 for students or $4 for a family and the entire community is invited to attend.
Jordan Bowen threw up a prayer March 3 in Lebanon and it was answered. Her last-second shot found the bottom of the net and the Lady Tigers defeated West Plains 41-40 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Class 4 state basketball tournament. The Lady Tigers then lost to Webb City in the quarterfinals on Saturday. (See Photo Gallery)
