The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced that there will be street closures in St. James beginning on Tuesday, October 27. The closures are to allow preliminary work to be completed for planned sidewalk improvements.
Closures will include N. Maramec Street, W. James Blvd, and Route 8/Jefferson Street proceeding on to Dillon Street. Superintendent of the Streets Department John Edgars said that roads will be rerouted due to trees being cut down surrounding the school. “MoDOT (Missouri Department of Transportation) will furnish us the signs. We will be rerouting from W. James over Highway 68 and through Meramec,” said Edgars. He explained that work won’t get started until around 8:30 a.m., allowing for school traffic to be finished. “It should be done that day,” Edgars said. “We probably won’t start until school does and we are hoping to be done by the time school gets out.” The reroute of streets will follow the same route that traffic was rerouted during the Tour of Missouri. The tree removal must be completed before the sidewalk project can begin around John F. Hodge High School. The work zone will be marked with MoDOT signs and the detour route will also be marked. Motorists are urged to use caution in the work zone throughout the day.
