A Beaufort man, Derek J. King, 19, and two Union men, James T. Curran, 19, and Cole W. Weddle, 18, were all killed in a traffic accident early Thursday, June 6. Two others suffered serious injuries.
A 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Curran was traveling southbound on Porterford Road near Cardinal Lane, south of Union. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, striking a culvert and a tree.
Curran and King were pronounced dead at the scene by Franklin County Medical examiner Russell Rost at 2:34 a.m. Weddle died at Mercy Hospital St. Louis at 6:50 a.m.
