Steelville’s annual Harvest Festival Celebration will be held September 4-9, and one new addition to the schedule is the fireworks display that was postponed on July 4 due to excessive heat and drought. The yearly festival is sponsored by the Steelville Chamber of Commerce and will include a multitude of family fun for all ages following the theme “Life’s Shining Moments.” Mark your calendars!
The festival will kick off Tuesday, September 4 with the annual car show from 4:30 to 8 p.m., sponsored by the Steelville High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Entry fee will at $15 per car, and all proceeds benefit FBLA. Cars must be registered by August 31 by contacting Lana Mabe at (573) 775-2144. The event will be held at the Main Street parking lot across from the courthouse, and pulled pork sandwiches will be served. Wednesday, September 5 will host a benefit all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner at Golden Echoes from 5 to 7 p.m. Adults will be charged $6, kids ages 6-12 are $3, and age six and under are free. All proceeds will go to a local charity that has not yet been decided. At 7 p.m., the Meramec Music Theatre will host a community gospel sing featuring local talent. There is no entry fee, and performers interested in taking part need to contact Sharon Hardecke at 775-5688. A love offering for Steelville Ministerial Alliance will be collected. On Thursday, September 6, the annual Harvest Festival Queen Pageant will take place at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under at the door. The Steelville Chamber of Commerce will host a BBQ at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 7. Pre-orders for a pork steak or chicken meal should contact Peggy Cardoni at 775-2151. Delivery will be available in Steelville and Cuba. At 8 p.m., the Ozark Trailblazers Rodeo will take place with the Pee Wee Princess contest starting at 7 p.m. Booths will open on the courthouse lawn Saturday, September 8 at 9 a.m. Those interested in housing a booth should contact Dionne Patrick at (573) 205-4579. The parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Main Street, and entry forms are available from Becky Simpson at 775-2151. The evening will end with the Plummer Family Show at Meramec Music Theatre at 7 p.m. and the Ozark Trail Blazers Rodeo at 8 p.m. The final day will be a “Celebration at Steelville City Park,” beginning with a live gospel sing from 4 to 6 p.m. Information about the gospel sing can be acquired from Peggy Cardoni at 775-2151. Tickets are on sale for Bessie Bingo, which will take place at 5 p.m., from Valley Becker at (573) 885-2511. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20.
