Administration, teachers, and faculty at the St. James school are readying for the return of students. With school just a week away, finishing touches are being made at the schools in anticipation of the 2012-13 school year.
Most class registrations have already been conducted. Teachers will return to the classroom on August 3, with classes beginning on Thursday, August 9.
“We are trying to get the word out that supplies will be in the classrooms on the first day of school. Parents do not need to buy or bring any additional materials for students,” Board of Education Secretary Ashley Redburn said. School hours will remain the same as last year. Anyone who has not registered can stop into the offices of each building to do so. Forest City Family Practice is once again providing free physicals for students prior to the school year. Physical exams will be offered until August 9. All student athletes are encouraged to take advantage of this offer before entering into sports programs.
Practices begin Monday While St. James students won’t return to classes until last next week, athletes will be back in action starting Monday. August 6 is the first official day of practice for all fall sports. Practice times will vary depending on the temperature, but most practices will start at 3:30 p.m. Those planning to participate in volleyball, softball, cross country or football must have a physical examination form on file before beginning practice. Contact the school for more information.
