Schools need SROs Print E-mail

One thing on school safety, I don’t think that letting our teachers carry handguns in our schools is a good thing. They have one thing in their mind and that is to get the kids somewhere safe and it would endanger the students even more if the teacher had a handgun. The intruder would, more than not, use it on the teacher and students.

Now here is something for all to think about.
Each school to have a SRO in the school. SRO (School Resource Officer), a police officer. Now the school district pays half of his/her pay and the police department pays the other half.
Also have cameras in each  ground floor hallway, covering the entrance doors, with the monitors in the offices.
All entrance doors lock (not chained) except the door closed to the front office and have a medical doctor set up there with the security officer (armed). A good SRO would be a DARE officer and I can see a lot of school board members shaking their heads and saying we don’t have that much money! Then ask yourself this, What is the cost of a student’s life?
I know that this system works because I worked in the schools that has a SRO and security officer both.
