On Saturday, February 9, the St. James Kiwanis Club will host its third annual trivia night. Held at the Nelson Hart Park Community Building, the evening will be full of opportunities to win prizes while raising money for the Kiwanis. Teams of eight per table, 35 tables maximum, will handle 10 rounds of rapid-fire questions and visual puzzles.
“Trivia night is our largest fundraiser of the year, far surpassing proceeds netted from our other two yearly fundraisers, Pancake Day and the Grape and Fall Festival raffle,” Kiwanis member Dick Pirtle said. Throughout the evening, first- and second-half 50/50 drawings, a finale raffle and a silent auction will all be available to participants. Mulligans for answers are also available before the game starts. Complimentary buckets of ice will be provided, but teams are encouraged to bring food and beverages. Events will begin at 7 p.m. All proceeds will be used to fund local Kiwanis programs including educational grants, K-Kids, boys’ basketball, Head Start, Buddy and Tot Packs and the community garden. A table can be purchased for $80 to competing teams. Anyone interested in registering can contact Lynda Rueff at (573) 265-4032 or by email at queenhoneybee@ centurtytel.net. Kiwanis plays an integral part in assisting children in the community and members hope to have a large crowd in attendance.
