Kiwanis Club hosting trivia night fundraiser |

On Saturday, February 9, the St. James Kiwanis Club will host its third annual trivia night. Held at the Nelson Hart Park Community Building, the evening will be full of opportunities to win prizes while raising money for the Kiwanis. Teams of eight per table, 35 tables maximum, will handle 10 rounds of rapid-fire questions and visual puzzles.

Five members of the St. James Red Regiment made it to the Four-Rivers Conference band. There were more than 300 students competing for 100 positions on the band during tryouts held January 9.

St. James gets jobs, infrastructure improvements from DRA funding |

Infrastructure improvements to Wilson Drive in the St. James Industrial Park were completed in December and will result in eight new jobs and $500,000 in new capitol improvements at one local business while setting the stage for additional growth opportunities.

St. James High School senior Taylour Rinehart wants your blue jeans. A local “Teens for Jeans” project she is coordinating will help teens in need and could net the school district a $10,000 grant. Sponsored by MakeADifference.org, the program is aimed at collecting jeans for homeless teens who enter shelters.

 Taking part in this year’s Courtwarming at John F. St. James Tigers Basketball Courtwarming will be held February 1 as St. James takes on Pacific. King and queen candidates are preparing for the annual coronation ceremony between the junior varsity and varsity games and students will have plenty to do throughout next week.
