Two weeks: That’s how long it took before the city council amended its new ordinance requiring $25 building occupancy permits. The Cuba Council met on Monday, and acting on the recommendation of Mayor Ray Mortimeyer, agreed to keep the ordinance in force but eliminate the $25 fee.

It has been six years since the City of Cuba adjusted its natural gas rates—until now, that is. On Monday, the council authorized new rates for utility customers based on the recommendations of the Natural Gas Committee. Turns out they’re not much different than they were before.

The Cuba Board of Aldermen met in regular session at Cuba City Hall on Monday, August 2 to discuss the following items of business:

• Emergency Preparedness Director Les Murdock stated the police department has requested a storm spotters class. It will be scheduled for October or November.
