Learn to make jewelry at Firehouse Coffee Shop Print E-mail

The Firehouse Coffee Shop is offering a weekend workshop on Saturday. From 1 until 4 p.m., the art department at John F. Hodge high school will show guests how to make hand-built earrings and recycled products to make jewelry. All proceeds will go to the art department.

The St. James Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) will present a Family Movie Night on Friday at the elementary school gym. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the big gym, the PTO will present Cars 2. The PTO has had great success with movie nights and hope for another large turnout.

The St. James School District is moving quickly on getting an HVAC contract for the middle school. Creative Construction Solutions representative Lloyd Pooker discussed bidding options with the St. James Board of Education last week and gave a schedule of things to come.

School getting faster Internet Print E-mail

St. James schools will be getting better bandwidth following approval of a contract with Charter Internet Service. The contract was a topic of discussion among the St. James Board of Education during their meeting on January 19 and will give the schools a boost from 25 megabytes of service up to 150 megabytes.

Council meets to review finer points of new city administrator position Print E-mail

St. James city officials met January 18 to discuss changes that will need to be made to the city code before a city administrator position can be created. Although the workshop was informal, with nothing voted on, alderman did have the opportunity to speak with City Attorney Ed Hoertel about those changes.
