Linetta J. Holmes, the Cuba woman accused of having sex with at least six teenage boys in the Crawford County area in early 2008, has been sentenced to prison.
Holmes, 42, a married mother of four children, received a sentence of 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections from Judge William C. Seay, after pleading guilty to five counts of statutory rape and sodomy last summer in a plea arrangement with the prosecuting attorney’s office. Special prosecutor Mike Anderson from Texas County was called in to handle the case as one of the victims was closely related to an employee in Crawford County Prosecutor Sid Pearson’s office. Anderson reported the plea agreement was made in order to get the sentence desired without the victims having to testify in court. “In this way, we got the 15-year sentence and the victims didn’t have to go on the stand and essentially be re-victimized,” he stated. Holmes was arrested in May 2008 following an anonymous tip to police. The defendant originally faced eight different counts of statutory rape and sodomy.
