St. James students do well in FRC art contest

    John F. Hodge High School art students participated in the 2014 Four Rivers Conference Art Show recently with many students being recognized for their excellent work. Students competed in the areas of design, painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, fibers, computer art, printmaking, black and white drawing, color drawing and ceramics.

Man held after brutal assault

    A Steelville man is in jail after allegedly attacking another man with a tire iron and beating him severely on Sunday. Brock Edward Woodfin, age 45, stands charged with class A felony assault in the first degree and unclassified felony armed criminal action. He is currently being held on $247,000 cash only bond.

Gov. Nixon orders flags to half-staff in honor of fallen Phelps County soldier
