Gabrielle Smith and Kenny Highley were crowned Cuba High School’s Homecoming 2014 queen and king during a coronation ceremony at the football field on Friday night. Although it was a cool evening showing first signs of fall, the ceremony managed to go off without any wet weather, as the mist and sprinkles of rain did not begin to fall until after the football game started.
Kelsie Booker, crowned both as Harvest Festival Queen in 2013, and then as Crawford County Fair Queen in 2014, competed in the Missouri State Fair queen contest early in August. She was one of 57 contestants,and an unofficial ranking placed her at number 14 out of the group.
A stormy morning didn’t deter hundreds of member-owners of Crawford Electric who turned out September 10 for the 74th annual meeting of the cooperative. The skies had cleared by late morning, when more than 1,200 people were able to enjoy a steak sandwich lunch cooked by the Crawford County Cattlemen.

Approximately 50 members of the Missouri Outdoor Communicators met recently in Columbia, Missouri, as guests of the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau. Outdoor communicators enjoyed three days of activities, meetings, seminars and social events organized by the Beenders-Walkers Group, Executive Directors of MOC and the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau.
For the fifth consecutive year, Missouri University of Science and Technology and Rolla residents will unite to host Celebration of Nations on Sept. 27. This year, the multicultural event will feature a performance by the popular bluegrass group Jimmie Allison and the Ozark Rounders.
