Construction going as planned at R-2 Schools

Renovations at the Cuba R-2 School District campus went smoothly this summer, with the interior work finished on schedule and on time for the start of the school year. New construction at the high school is now under way, with a target date of mid-October to finish the outside work. All construction projects should be completed at the campus by Christmastime.

School gets lower grade, still ranks high

    Steelville Schools has received its annual grade card from the state of Missouri—and has ended up with a solid B+ for the last school year. The district received an 87.5 percent average for the areas reviewed by the state, down from the 2013 score of 94.3 percent.

School test scores drop some, but remain high overall

    The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has released report cards for Missouri’s public school districts. St. James schools remained very similar to how it has performed in recent years, but school officials are adjusting to new rating criteria and hope to improve those scores.

Missouri S&T helps PCB install solar panels

ROLLA, Mo. – Phelps County Bank’s downtown Rolla location will be drawing some of its power from the sun next spring, thanks to a partnership between the bank and Missouri University of Science and Technology. The historic four-story building at 718 N. Pine was once the Edwin Long Hotel and has been the home of Phelps County Bank (PCB) for more than 50 years.
