The St. James High School boys’ cross country team placed fifth at the Belle Invitational on September 26. The team had a score of 140, while Linn took first place with a team score of 44.
The Tigers lead runner was Alex Auxier with a time of 18:39 in third place. Auxier was only 30 seconds off of the first place time. The other varsity Tigers crossing the finish line were Isaac Altis in 32nd with a time of 20:44, Jordan Howard 33rd in 20:53, Seth Thompson 37th in 21:06, Tucker Lepper 57th in 22:47 and Nick Burns 71st in 24:38.
Leslie Perona took fourth in the girls’ race with a time of 21:38. She was followed by Parker Fane in sixth with 21:38 and Hannah Perona 13th in 23:15. The girls do not have a varsity team score.
The middle school boys came in 11th out of 15 teams with a score of 264. The first-place team was Thomas Jefferson (Jefferson City) with a score of 73. The girls came in 14 out of 14 with a score of 346.
Leading the boys across the finish line was Tyler Dover with a time of 10:04 in 21st place followed by Jonathon Bowley 35th in 10:32, Ethan Barnett 67th in 11:10, Garrett Rankin 100th in 11:44, Christian Harrell 111th in 12:09, Connor Gorrell 112th in 12:09, Curtis Schultz 124th in 12:26, Thomas Henderson 134th in 12:40, Tyler Bass 151st in 13:14, David Deluca 154th in 13:16, Matthew Altis 165th in 14:18, Alex Hunter 168th in 14:32 and Chessley Plank 172nd in 15:67.
For the MS girls, Valerie Frasier was first across the line in 13:10, taking 82nd. Next across the finish line was Maia Bond in 83rd with a time of 13:14, Courtney Cale 94th in 13:49, Taylor Brennan 96th in 13:56, and Emily Hill 124th in 15:32.
The Tigers ran in Dixon Monday and hosted their meet on Wednesday. They will be back in actin Tuesday, when they run in Cuba at 4 p.m.
