Bourbon didn’t have a lot of entrants in last week’s Cuba Invitational Cross Country Meet, which was held October 8 at Cuba Lakes Golf Course, but the Warhawks had some great finishes, including two overall winners.
Jered Nolie won the MS boys’ race with a time of eight minutes and 45 seconds and Aidan Sheffel was 10th for the MS girls in a time of 10:28. In the junior varsity boys’ race, Garrett Joslin finished first with a time 19:46, Eli Sheffell was second in 19:52 and Tyler Valley was third in 20:15. For the varsity, Matthew Sappington was 10th in 18:52, Douglas Schoffstall 22nd in 19:37 and Chris Radford 51st in 21:27.
The Warhawks also competed in Saturday’s Potosi Invitational. Nollie finished third in the MS boys’ race with a time of 12:03, while Sheffel was 21st in the MS girls race with a time of 14:16 and Alexandra Gibbs finished 28th in 14:32.
For the JV boys in Potosi, Schoffstall was 12th in 19:43, Joslin was 15th in 19:58, Sheffel was 18th in 20:08, Valley was 23rd in 20:20 and Mike Novanty was 40th in 21:46. The JV Warhawks finished third as a team in a six-team field.
For the varsity boys, Sappington finished 36th with a time of 19:00 and Radford was 68th in 21:21.
The cross country teams ran in Owensville Tuesday and will participate in the Gasconade Valley Conference meet in Cuba on October 25.
