Sheriff claims deputy was justified in shooting dog while responding to 911 call - VIDEO

• Homeowner says dog, which was not killed, is not a dangerous animal

A video of a Crawford County Sheriff’s Department deputy shooting a dog has created controversy after the dog’s owner posted the video online in late November. On Facebook, the owner—Mike Garrison—posted it along with this comment, “Sign says beware of dog, why did he have to approach my family pet and shoot her when nobody was home!” However, Sheriff Randy Martin reported that the deputy was responding to a 911 distress call at the residence, and had acted appropriately in order to do his job of following up on the call.
