In 2011, Moon Jr. won 92.9 KKID’s Battle of the Bands and were featured on Fox 2 Morning Show in St. Louis in March of 2013. In 2013, they went on their first tour, traveling to several mideast states. This summer they will be traveling to Colorado to tour through Rocky Mountain Booking. Before their 2014 summer tour, they will be releasing their first album and playing with the band Mutemath in Rolla for the 106th Annual Best Ever St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
Mutemath is an alternative rock band from New Orleans that formed in 2003. They were nominated for a Grammy in 2007 for the music video “Typical.” They have been featured on several soundtracks, including Twilight and Transformers. Their last tour was to India in the winter of 2013. They are currently recording their new album, but are taking a break to play St. Patrick’s Day in Rolla.
The St. Patrick’s Day celebration will begin with a parade in downtown Rolla on Pine Street at 11 a.m. Immediately following the parade the 106th Best Ever St. Patrick’s Day Concert will begin at the Rolla Downtown Bandshell. This free concert is located on 9th and Oak streets near the railroad tracks and is free to the public. Moon Jr. will be performing at 2 p.m. and Mutemath will be headlining at 3:30 p.m.
Moon Jr. will be releasing their debut album on Friday March 14 at The Locker Room, which is located at 609 North Rolla St. in Rolla. The free CD release party begins at 8 p.m., with Moon Jr. taking the stage at 10:30 p.m. in the new edition of The Locker Room. Moon Jr. merchandise will be sold at the event, including CDs, T-shirts, stickers and temporary tattoos. There will also be a raffle for a merchandise package. Their album release party is free and open to the public as a way to celebrate the fans who have made Moon Jr. what they are today.
