Congressman starting Duck Race

The Annual Yadkin Creek Duck Race, sponsored by the Steelville High School Class of 2014, will be held this Saturday, April 19 beginning at 1 p.m.

Hundreds of little yellow ducks will be released from the Hoppe Spring Park and will race their way down the creek to the footbridge at the Steelville Community Park. U.S. Congressman Jason Smith will be on hand to start the race.
Duck tickets may be purchased that morning at either of the two parks and winners will receive over $1,000 total in prize money (First prize for individuals is $200, and first prize for businesses is $300). There will also be duck merchandise, food, and drinks available. Food will feature pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, and nachos, and will be available starting at 10 a.m. at the community park.
In preparation for the race, the SHS seniors and Steelville Star Stream Team will be picking up trash along the Yadkin Creek beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday. The public is welcome to help.
