Applications for the Grape and Fall Festival parade are now available to anyone interested in participating in this year’s event. This year’s theme is “Heard it Through the Grapevine” and participants are encouraged to decorate a float matching the theme.
Line up for the parade will be 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 6 on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at the St. James Missouri Veterans Home and ending at the St. James High School. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and residents are invited to bring lawn chairs and set up downtown to view the show.
Businesses, clubs, organizations, churches, bands, cars, tractors, horses and others are invited to send in an application to join the parade festivities before September 1. Sponsored by the St. James Chamber of Commerce, floaters are once again asked to not throw candy from vehicles due to safety concerns. Walkers near each float are welcome to hand out candy along the route.
Bicycle enthusiasts are also invited to join the parade. Children are invited to create, decorate and ride their bikes along with the floats. Ribbons will be awarded for the best-decorated bikes. Parents or guardians are asked to fill out a quick application for their child, giving permission for the event.
Applications are available at the St. James Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Center now for those wanting to get registered. Parade participants who pre-register will be judged for prizes in their category. A simple application will need to be filled out prior to the event with the name of the participant, the size of the float, number of cars, horses, and other information, along with any special needs are included.
Applications can be mailed to: Parade Registration, St. James Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 358, St. James, Missouri, 65559; or filled out at the Chamber office. For more information, contact the St. James Chamber of Commerce at (573) 265-6649.
