City gets grant to help with lodge project
Grant funding was recently awarded to the city of Steelville from the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) to assist in the development of property near the industrial park. The DRA grant is $130,300 towards the total project cost of $161,120 and will help fund the installation of the sewer and the roadway to the area.

Steelville first graders presented a winter-themed Christmas program to family and friends at the Meramec Music Theatre on Thursday, December 4. The group sang selections from the movie “Frozen,” along with other winter songs, and each class recited a winter poem.
New Steelville gym coming soon
Steelville will soon boast a new fitness center, thanks to the efforts of Greg Booker and Beau Edgar. Show Me Fitness of Steelville will provide a new workout facility for those interested in improving or maintaining their physical health.
Come out to view and create art with your family and friends of all ages! The second Art Night at the old Steelville Middle School is scheduled for Thursday, December 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. and is open to everyone who’d like to participate.
Medical flights mean quicker access to specialized care
More local patients are being flown to St. Louis area hospitals to receive specialized care as a result of a state law that went into effect in August of 2013. The new law requires emergency medical personnel to send people suffering from heart attacks, strokes and major trauma to specialized hospitals for care. The transport to these trauma centers must be done in a timely manner in order to best provide necessary care for the patient.
