The Everbridge Mass Notification System is available for St. James residents to keep informed of severe weather, fires, road closures, gas leaks, and citywide emergencies. Residents can sign up for the system online or at the Municipal Center or Golden Age Center to receive notifications in the event of an emergency.
Great weather brings large crowd in for Sip ‘n’ Savor
Organized by the St. James Chamber of Commerce, Sip ‘n’ Savor returned to St. James on Saturday as a large crowd visited businesses around town. The day was filled with sunshine and wine and beer tasting opportunities for participants.
Arrest made for fake bomb threat
The St. James Police Department responded to a bomb threat on Sunday in the 700 block of Grover Street. At 9:30 a.m., an employee at Finn’s Motel located a note posted on one of the rooms, which indicated a bomb was inside. One suspect was arrested, but there was no actual explosive device.

St. James High School band students took a trip to New York the week on April 17 to learn about the deep jazz history of the area. The trip was a great learning experience for the 28 jazz students who participated as they attended performances, visited historic locations and learned how jazz music influenced the city.
Drug take back program nets 90 pounds of medication
The St. James Police Department and Kiwanis Club teamed up over the weekend to hold a prescription drug take back program at the police station. Held on Saturday, members of the police department and Kiwanis clubs volunteered time for drive-through collection of unwanted prescription drugs and had a great turnout.
