Rocker racers share their stories

    The Sixth Annual “Race to the Rocker” is just around the corner, set to take place on March 22 in Cuba. Anyone is welcome and encouraged to participate or attend this event, sponsored by JOG, Inc. (Joggers of God, In Cuba). The four-mile race from historic uptown Cuba to the site of the World’s Largest Rocking Chair in Fanning is one that has steadily grown in popularity for a variety of reasons.

Design for Project Oak development on target

Project Oak, a major redevelopment venture along Cuba’s I-44 corridor, is moving through the design phase on schedule and with few hang-ups. Construction on the project is expected to start this spring, and in time, it will bring to town a new Taco Bell restaurant, Comfort Inn hotel, and an all-new Mobil On the Run convenience store and gas pumps.

Cuba voters to decide school board race, capital improvement tax

Unless there’s a great push for write-in candidates in the April election, the ballot choices for city government offices will be quick and easy for the voters of Cuba. Only the incumbents filed for reelection to their city hall offices. Voters will, however, decide a contested school board race and whether or not to renew a half-cent sales tax being used for capital improvement projects.

CHS one of seventy statewide schools pledging not to use R-word

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Throughout the month of March, students at more than 70 schools around Missouri will unite their communities to Spread the Word to End the Word®, as supporters participate in the sixth annual “Spread the Word to End the Word” awareness day, aimed at ending the hurtful use of the R-word (“retard(ed)”) negatively impacting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
