Disaster plan for city almost complete
According to Emergency Preparedness Director Rodney Neff, the city’s emergency plan has been updated and is almost ready to have its changes approved, so that it may be implemented by all departments. There will be one additional meeting held before the final revised plan goes before the council for their okay.
Montgomery taking over grounds department
Jerry Montgomery has been promoted to replace the retiring Buddy Hughes as supervisor of the Grounds Department. He will now oversee a department being renamed Parks & Grounds Maintenance.
Steelville police were busy in September
The Steelville Police Department responded to a total of 253 calls logged through the Crawford County E-911 office for the month of September. The following is a breakdown of those calls by category:
What started as a small event with a few local businesses involved has grown into one that brings several hundred people to the Steelville Community Park each October. The Pumpkin Village, sponsored by the city of Steelville, had humble beginnings as the brainchild of Mayor Terry Palmer, but has grown each year to become a much-anticipated event for local families.
Steelville woman killed in one-vehicle wreck
A Steelville woman lost her life in a car wreck on Saturday, October 18. Candise White, 27, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Crawford County Assistant Coroner Darren Dake shortly after the accident occurred around 1 p.m.
All senior citizens in the Steelville community are invited to the 10th Annual Senior Citizens Appreciation Dinner to be held at Steelville High School at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4.
