A St. James senior will be competed in three events at the Class 3 & 4 Missouri Track Championship, which will be held Friday and Saturday in Jefferson City.
The Bourbon School District held its annual athletic awards banquet on May 15. Athletic Director Steven Vetter opened the ceremony saying that the teams have all represented Bourbon well. "I've gotten comments from officials, other coaches, and fans about our coaches and our athletes and the character that they display at the games,” he said. “They should be commended for that."
For the third consecutive year, the Cuba Wildcat baseball team wears the district championship crown. The Wildcats won their district playoff tournament last week with a pair of wins against Licking and Dixon.
St. James has another all-state athlete! Shelby Ridenhour finished her high school career as taking sixth place in the long jump at last week’s Class 3&4 state track meet. Ridenhour also took ninth in 100 and 10th in the 200 in the preliminaries, but did not make the finals in those events.

The St. James Lady Tigers varsity red team finished second in their first tournament of the summer in the Licking Shootout. After a few hard fought games the Lady Tigers just missing winning the tourney, falling to Webster Groves 31-28 Saturday in the championship game.
When the postseason baseball awards were announced recently, there was little surprise that the 16-3, district champion Cuba Wildcats would have players on the list. Cuba had four boys named both to this year’s all-Gasconade Valley Conference team and also to the all-district baseball team: Ryan Bouse, Bryer Nash, Taylor Thompson, and Cameron Williams.
Several St. James basketball teams participated in the first Annual Children’s Miracle Network 3-on-3 tournament, which was hosted by the Walmart Distribution Center. The event, which featured 34 teams, was held at St. James Middle School on Saturday.
Forest City Family Practice will once again provide free athletic physicals to all St. James student athletes. The free physicals will be administered only on July 9 and July 25 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.
The St. James high school baseball summer season has begun. The Expos are the summer team coached by Marty Hauck. The Expos traveled to Crocker and lost their first games June 4t 11-6 and 10-3. On June 6 they had a tri-meet losing to Dixon 8-6 and Vienna 10-4.
The summer season on the diamond finally got started. The summer high school softball team played a double-header against St. Clair June 4, winning one 15-6 and losing one 7-9 and then lost both games against Waynesville on Jun e6 10-0 and 16-0. The summer team, coached by Brad Purvis, is wearing orange and is called the Crush.
After having a rough start for their summer season by losing three of four games, the St. James High School baseball players found the winning combination last week, winning five of six games.
The St. James varsity Lady Tigers basketball team were undefeated in the last Licking Shootout, which was held last Friday and Saturday in St. James and Rolla. The girls won all eight of their games.
After receiving postseason recognition as both all-conference and all-district selections, Cuba’s “Big Four” in high school baseball have also been named to the Class 2 all-state baseball team.
