Mock wreck drives home dangers to SHS students

Steelville High School watched as six of their fellow students were part of a mock car accident on Tuesday, April 30. They witnessed the action of local first responders as they arrived at the scene, worked to free the participants from the two vehicles involved, and get them emergency medical care. The event was held in the hopes that the youth would consider the gravity of such a situation and be more careful when driving.

Steelville hosted a very successful Missouri Community Betterment event last Thursday—drawing the largest attendance in the state, according to MCB Executive Director Jan Simon. Right at 50 participants (almost exclusively from Steelville) came out for the regional meeting to discuss ways the community can come together to improve. The largest group at a MCB regional meeting before this one had 25 attendees.
