Churches planning special services

    Christmas has arrived in St. James and several churches in the community are celebrating the season with Christmas Eve services. Each church will hold a special event free for community members to join.

Couple marking 75 years together

    Charles Henry Hadley and Evelyn Virginia Hadley are celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary on Thursday, December 18. The couple raised their family in St. James and look forward to many more years together.

Arrests made after meth lab discovered

    Three men are in custody after the St. James Police Department allegedly discovered a methamphetamine laboratory. Members of the St. James Fire Protection District and the South Central Drug Task Force assisted in removing and disposal of the laboratory once the scene was secured.

St. James Winery wins three Jefferson Cups

The results from the 15th annual Jefferson Cup Invitational wine competition are in, and St. James Winery won an impressive three Jefferson Cups out of the total 38 that were awarded. The winning wines for St. James Winery are 2013 Semi-Dry Vignoles, 2012 Estate Norton, and Friendship School White.

Filing for April election opens Tuesday

    Filing for city and school positions, along with some other area boards, begins next week. Candidate filing will be held from December 16 through January 20. Seats on the St. James City Council, St. James School Board of Education, mayor, municipal judge, fire, and ambulance boards will all be up for election in April.
