Man allegedly kept donations to Wounded Warrior Project
• Former Leasburg resident arrested in Cuba, charge in Phelps County
In late October the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department was notified of an individual who had been collecting donations for the Wounded Warrior Project and possibly using the funds for his own gain. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department opened an investigation.
Commission continues insurance review
During the week of November 26, Phelps County commissioners:
• Received the agenda for the December 10 meeting of the Rolla Development Review Committee.
People concerned about impact of bridge project
A public hearing was held on November 26 to allow public comment on a bridge replacement project over the Dry Fork Creek west of St. James on Highway 8. Residents filled Lucy Wortham James Elementary School to learn about the project and voice their opinions on the best time for the project. Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) officials spoke and took comments from citizens.
Troop I officers to participate in statewide holiday DWI enforcement campaign
Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that Troop I officers will be participating in the statewide 2013 Holiday DWI Enforcement Campaign in an effort to stop people from driving while impaired this holiday season. Enforcement efforts will be increased from December 13, 2013 through January 4, 2014, and will focus on reducing deaths and injuries caused by impaired drivers.
