Several amendments on Tuesday’s ballot
Phelps County voters will have five different proposed amendments to the Missouri Constitution to consider when they head to the polls to cast their ballots next Tuesday. Three Rivers Publishing offers voters this brief overview of each amendment proposal and any arguments for or against.

New county prosecutor to be determined on Aug. 5
The next Phelps County Prosecuting Attorney will be elected in next Tuesday’s primary. Republicans Brendon Fox and Brant Shockley are seeking the office and the winner of the August 5 primary will be unopposed in November. Incumbent John Beger is not seeking reelection.
Two Republicans seeking county clerk nominaton
Two Republican candidates, Rosalind Breske and Pamela Grow, will meet in Tuesday’s primary for their party’s nomination for Phelps County Clerk. The winner will face Democrat Paul Long in November. Incumbent Carol Bennett is not seeking another term.
Six-year-old boy drowns at quarry
Phelps County authorities have recovered the body of a six-year-old boy from Fenton who drowned Friday afternoon while swimming with family members at Fugitive Beach near Rolla.
