The National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) has recognized the Rehabilitation Through Innovation program conducted in the Crawford County Jail with its National Innovation Award. The program worked to bring entities and individuals together to tackle the workforce issue plaguing the counties in the Meramec Region and to better prepare prospective workers for employment.
Crawford County commissioners meet on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. at the county courthouse in Steelville. They did not convene a meeting on Tuesday, April 2 because of the Municipal Election, but the commission met each succeeding week to conduct business for the county, as follows:
Eight new patrol vehicles will soon hit the roadways in Crawford County, providing an update to the aging fleet currently in use for the Sheriff’s Department. The new vehicles are black 2019 Chevrolet Tahoes and are part of a lease plan that Major Adam Carnal called a “good investment for the long run.”
There is a Salvation Army Chapter somewhere close to you. Not only are they found in the city but there is a local chapter right here in Crawford County. The Southwestern Area Salvation Army serves the Cuba, Leasburg, Steelville and Cherryville areas. They have been here locally for many years.
William L. Isgriggs, 56, a man convicted of incest in 2010, was arrested on April 19, after failing to register as a sex offender in Crawford County for eight months.
