A press release issued by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office on October 3 detailed the events of a manhunt for Kevin Griffin, 41 years of age, of Rolla. The release is as follows:
On today’s date a deputy was taking a report in the 100 block of Landers Rd., Bourbon, regarding a theft. During the investigation the deputy heard what he believed to be gun shots near his location. As he approached the area of the sounds of shots he was notified by several subjects that a white male, (later identified as Griffin), had fled after firing shots.
A large law enforcement response was requested to respond to the area from our office, MSHP, and Sullivan Police Department. Through the investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had fled after he witnessed a deputy in the area. The suspect was identified and it was learned that he had an active warrant for a parole violation. Several subjects in the area noticed him fleeing and attempted to apprehend him believing he was fleeing from the deputy. The suspect then fired shots in an attempt to deter those attempting to apprehend him.
A canvass of the area was conducted for several hours by law enforcement and our K-9 unit, but the suspect was not located. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, if located please do not make contact. Contact our dispatch at 573-775-4911, or your local law enforcement agency if you have any information on his whereabouts.
