Christmas parade applications available now

The St. James Chamber of Commerce will once again sponsor the annual Christmas parade, which is scheduled for Saturday, December 7 at 6 p.m.  Businesses, clubs, organizations, churches, and schools wishing to participate in this year’s event are encouraged to pick up a parade application now.

This year’s theme is “Christmas Through a Child’s Eyes” and the Chamber encourages entrants to decorate a float or vehicle to match. This year, the parade route has been changed and will begin at the St. James High School and travel down Jefferson Street to the Missouri Veterans Home-St. James, where other Christmas activities will be taking place. The Chamber asks that no live Santa or Mrs. Clauses be used as Santa will appear on his own during the parade.
Participants can decorate floats, cars, tractors, or ride horses during the parade and are encouraged to share their club, organization, church, or business information on their vehicles. Registration forms can be filled out and returned to the Chamber offices leading up to the parade. Since the parade will take place at dusk, lighting is encouraged.
The Chamber asks that no candy or other items be thrown during the parade. Those wishing to hand out goods are encouraged to have walkers near the float to do so. All motorized vehicles must be driven by licensed drivers.
Applications can be mailed to the Chamber office at 100 State Highway B, St. James, Missouri, 65559; dropped off to the Tourist Information Center, or filled out online on the Chamber website at www.stjameschamber.net. For more information, contact the Chamber at 573-265-6649. Participation is free.
Those wanting to sign up can register online at https://forms.gle/tpNyt5dCwou4rexn7 or can request a form at the Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Information Center. Following the parade, there will be a community tree lighting service and Santa will be available for pictures with families. Details are still being finalized and will be announced at a later date.
