Floyd James Medley of Potosi, Missouri was born December 26, 1942 in Bixby, Missouri to Marie Medley and passed away Monday, November 25, 2019 at the age of 76 years.
Floyd graduated from Cherryville High School and served his nation honorably in the U.S. Army from 1960-1963.
He was employed at Lever Bros. in St. Louis, Missouri for several years and retired in 2001.
Floyd was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Leadwood Masonic Lodge, the Elk Lodge in Potosi, the Eagles Lodge in Arnold and the Scottish Rites in St. Louis, Missouri. He enjoyed hunting and traveling in his spare time. Even though he was always quiet around others, he enjoyed socializing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Medley.
He is survived by his daughter, Melody (Greg) Martin of Cuba, Missouri; two brothers, Charles (Virginia) Medley of Potosi, Missouri and Kerry (Debra) Summers of Steelville, Missouri; two grandchildren, Mathew (Rachael) Brockmeier and Randi (Mark) Spurgeon, all of Cuba, Missouri; five great grandchildren, Landin, Jacob, Tatum, Eli and Harper; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Special music of “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High” was played.
Full military honors were given immediately following the service by the U.S. Army, St. James VFW Post #5608 and Patriot Guard.
Floyd had chosen cremation as his final disposition.Inurnment in the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery in Viburnum, Missouri will be held at a later date.
