Library holding fundraiser for purchase of new books

The James Memorial Library Teen Advisory Board will hold an art show and bake sale on December 10 to raise money to purchase new young adult books for the library. The event, called Snacks & Sketches, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. and will feature baked goods and art for sale throughout the evening.

"The Teen Advisory Board at the James Memorial Public Library would like to invite you to attend their first ever art show and bake sale fundraiser. This charity event will feature art work and baked goods created by local youth, ages 9 to 19 years old,” Youth Services Leader Niki Moen explained. “Items donated for this event will be for sale on a first-come, first-served basis. All the money raised will be used to purchase new young adult books for the library.”
Throughout the event, there will be many different items for sale, and it will be a great opportunity for the community to support the Teen Advisory Board’s efforts, while getting great deals on baked goods and art pieces made locally.
Baked goods being sold include whole pies will be available for $12, whole cakes for $10, items by the dozen for $8, or two per package for $1.
Art pieces will also be sold with paintings and sculptures being sold for $20, fiber arts and mixed media for $12, and drawings, sketches, and photography for $8.
“This is a great opportunity to support local youth and the library, while also picking up a few last-minute holiday gifts. Stop by the library on your way to the St. James Tigers basketball home opener to buy some homemade baked goods before the game,” Moen said.
The Teen Advisory board is made up of a group of St. James School District residents ages 13 through 19 years old and was created in 2019 to assist the library in meeting the needs of children and teens in the community. Moen said the group is always looking for new members and more involvement and anyone interested in joining can contact her at This email address is being protected from spambots.
