The annual Bourbon Christmas tree lighting ceremony was held on December 6. The event featured band and choir performances, an appearance by Santa, and the annual "Christmas in Bourbon" poem by Alice Bremer.
Christmas in Bourbon 2019
By Alice Bremer
Every year about this time in December
We gather here to light our Christmas tree.
To celebrate and to remember
Our Savior’s birth for you and me.
We delight with the children singing
And we love to listen to the band.
We look forward to Santa’s arrival
And joy throughout our land.
We have had many things happen
Here in Bourbon, our hometown.
Some made us proud and happy
And others made us feel down.
We lost our Mayor Danny Skaggs
When the Lord called him to rest.
Now David Lafferty is the Mayor
We are sure he will do his best.
We have started our paving project
On downtown’s main street
It will cause some inconvenience
But when finished, it will be really neat.
The Boosters completed the Festival Park Stage
And the Business Association has put some barrels out.
They are sure to attract much attention
When they finish placing them all about.
We know the New Year will bring changes.
Let’s work together for Bourbon, our town we love so dear.
We wish you happiness and many blessings
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
