The Vichy Volunteer Fire Department will host a grilled pork steaks and chicken and dumpling dinner on Sunday, Aug. 9.
The dinner will take place at the firehouse/community hall at 14812 Highway 63 in Vichy. Serving will begin at 11 a.m. and run until 5 p.m., or until food runs out. Adult dinners will be $10 each while children's dinners (12 and under) will be $5.
Side dishes of country hash browns, baked beans, homemade cole slaw, chicken and dumplings, homemade desserts and bottled water are included with the dinners.
Due to social distancing requirements, this dinner will be carry-out only.
"We do not have room in our main dining hall to accommodate very many tables with social distancing, and our fire bays are not air conditioned, and we are concerned that it will be too warm to eat comfortably in the fire bays," explained Bonnie Prigge, board president. "We hope the community will continue to bear with us and support us for this dinner as they have in the past.”
Because the truck bays are not air conditioned, the serving line will be in the dining hall for this dinner, as it was with the June dinner.
“We will have customers to come in one of the truck bay doors and into the dining hall to pay for their food, pick up their order and leave through the main entrance doors,” Prigge said.
The department's next dinner will be Sept. 13 in conjunction with the fire department's annual tractor parade, and will feature whole hog sausage and chicken and dumplings.
