    Joan Lee (nee Howard) Ziebol of Steelville, Missouri was born April 23, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri to Hugh Frederick and Leona Schulte Howard and passed away Friday, October 30, 2020 at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 7 days.  

    Joan married George Ziebol in December of 1993 in St. Louis, Missouri.
    Joan was employed at Contigo Co., a plastics factory in Bridgeton and later in Home Health Care. She attended the Covenant Praise Church of God in Cuba, Missouri for the last few years. Joan enjoyed volunteering for the local mission store and helping with senior citizens. In her spare time, she loved working puzzles and watching movies.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Leona Howard; her husband, George Ziebol; and one brother, Michael Howard.
    She is survived by one daughter, Jeanna Van Slyke of O’Fallon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Robert Van Slyke of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Christopher Van Slyke of Lonedell, Missouri and Christina (Jay) Barnes of Sullivan, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Bently Van Slyke, Drake Barnes and Harley Barnes; four step daughters, Kathy (Jay) Key of Harrison, Arkansas, Susan (Ron) Martin of Bullhead City, Arizona, Cindy (Rick) Martin and Merry Ziebol, all of Steelville, Missouri; seven step grandchildren; 15 step great grandchildren; one sister, Regina Howard; other relatives and friends.
    Visitiation was held from 11 a.m. until noon on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
    Funeral services were held at noon on Thursday, November 5, 2020 with Pastor Jeremiah Wilson officiating. Special music of “In the Garden,” “Go Rest High” and “Blessings” was played. Memories were shared by family and friends.
    Committal prayer and interment were at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020 in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri with Bill Bennett officiating.
    Casket bearers were Christina Barnes, Jay Barnes, Christopher Van Slyke and Jeanna Van Slyke.
