James S. Oliver of St. James, Missouri was born August 2, 1938 to Marion Stewart and Mary Gertrude Cain Oliver and passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the age of 82 years.
He married Thelma Jean Mitchell on March 20, 1963 in Bay Springs, Mississippi.
James spent most of his life as a communications technician. He traveled over the United States putting up communication towers. One of his greatest loves was operating Ham radios. He earned his masters degree in communications. He was originally from Mississippi and settled in St. James, Missouri after his wife passed away.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Mary Oliver; and wife, Thelma Oliver in September 1968.
He is survived by his son, James Oliver and wife Brenda of St. James, Missouri; one brother, Keith Oliver of Jefferson City, Missouri; one sister, Ilene Bell of DeSoto, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Alicia Fisher, minister of the St. James United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial of the ashes was at the Miles Cemetery.
