MDC invites new adult turkey hunters to virtual turkey clinic May 8

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the National Wild Turkey Federation, and Missouri Disabled Sportsmen invite new adult turkey hunters to an introductory turkey clinic 3–5:30 p.m. on May 8. To ensure public safety amid the coronavirus pandemic, the clinic will be live-streamed via teleconference technology.

Plenty of space in Missouri outdoors

    Social distancing is on everyone’s mind. While most people are following the guidelines, it seems that most are also trying to come up with things to do to keep themselves and their families busy with meaningful activities. There is plenty of space outdoors where families can go to walk, hike, bike, fish, bird watch, hunt mushrooms and wildflowers, shed antlers, arrowheads and fossils, and enjoy nature study activities.

MDC cancels May kids’ fishing day events at trout parks

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) announces that kids’ fishing day events at the state’s trout parks have been cancelled this year amid concerns over the coronavirus (COVID-19). The kids’ fishing day events cancelled include: May 2 at Montauk State Park near Licking and Bennett Spring State Park in Lebanon and May 16 at Roaring River State Park near Cassville and Maramec Spring Park in St. James.

MDC urges public to ‘bee-friend’ native pollinators

Spring and summer months bring both the buzz of lawnmowers and bees. These fuzzy flyers are important pollinators, playing a crucial role in the production of many favorite fruits and vegetables. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) encourages the public to “bee-friend” these valuable native pollinators.
