City discusses allowing chickens at high school

    The St. James City Council held a first reading of a proposed ordinance to allow the St. James School District to house chickens for educational use. Last month, agriculture teacher and FFA advisor Tim Davis made a request to the city to allow poultry at the high school.

NSDAR meeting being held

    Noah Coleman Chapter, NSDAR, is scheduled to meet Saturday, March 20 at 11:30 a.m. at Sybil’s in St. James. City approves 2021-22 budget

    The city of St. James approved the 2021-22 budget during the March meeting of the city council on Monday, March 9. Included in the budget were raises for most city departments to remain competitive and money included for city projects for the upcoming fiscal year, with some concern being leveled on how the recent winter weather event will impact the utility budget.

New gymnasium named after Phil West

    The newly constructed gymnasium at John F. Hodge High School has been named after long-time educator and former district athletic director Phil West. A ceremony was held during basketball games on Wednesday, February 24, to recognize West for all he has done to serve students during his 29-year educational career and St. James athletics.
