Eight SHS players named to all-GVC basketball teams

    Four girls and four boys from Steelville High School have been named to this year’s Gasconade Valley Conference all-conference basketball teams. The coaches from Belle, Bourbon, Cuba, Steelville, Viburnum, and Vienna made the selections.

Wilfong earns podium spot at state wrestling finals

    Sophomore Cody Wilfong of the St. James High School wrestling team earned all-state honors by placing sixth in the 145-pound weight class at the Missouri Class 2 State Championships, held Thursday, March 11 at Independence.

Tigers made nice run to district championship game

    It was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the St. James boys, and it was. And the young Tigers grew up in a hurry come district time.
    The Tigers shocked a lot of people by upsetting second-seeded Fatima 61-54 at Westphalia in the semifinals of the Class 4 District 9 Tournament to make their fourth consecutive appearance in the district championship game.

Lady Tigers won FRC, but missed state tournament

    With a large group of returners meshing with a talented incoming freshman class, roles and playing time had to be tweaked for the St. James High School girls’ basketball team.

    Spring sports at Cuba High School are set to get underway on Friday, provided the weather cooperates.

Lady Cats winless in Bourbon tournament

    The Cuba seventh-grade volleyball team has a rough trip to the Bourbon tournament on Saturday. The Lady Wildcats played three round-robin matches, and only won a single match.
