Sheriff’s Office will add K9 units

Two new deputies will soon join the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office: deputies of the canine variety. The two K9 units will be training for about six weeks with their human counterparts beginning later this month, and the dog duo will join the Sheriff’s Department after training is complete.

Local students represent Crawford Electric Co-op on Missouri leadership experience

Five local students sponsored by Crawford Electric Cooperative have returned from a unique educational and leadership experience in the state’s capital this summer. All five will enter their senior year in high school this fall.

Commissioners increase pay for county workers

Crawford County employees will see increased pay after commissioners voted to implement a pay scale that includes higher wages for the majority of county workers. The commission had put higher wages for county employees into the five-year plan proposed for the sales tax increase that was approved by voters in April of 2018. While it was originally a goal set for 2020, the county has already met the goals established for 2019 and the commission decided to move forward on this portion of next year’s plan.

Woman accused of stealing gun, cash, and Jeep

Burglary and stealing charges have been filed against a Sullivan woman who allegedly broke into a Crawford County residence and took a number of items, including a revolver, before leaving with the victim’s Jeep. The victim was asleep inside the residence at the time of the break-in.
