Ernie Pyle - great journalist in ‘The Greatest Generation’

        EDITOR’S NOTE: The Ernie Pyle World War II Museum features the famous journalist’s birthplace and a museum dedicated to Pyle’s life and writings as a war correspondent. It is owned by the Friends of Ernie Pyle, who are dedicated to preserving and expanding the legacy of the writer whose columns linked the soldiers on the front line to worried families on the home front.

Hospitals, agriculture working together for better rural health care

    The Missouri Farm Bureau’s mission statement is, “Advocating for farmers, the rural way of life and all Missourians.” I was recently invited to make a presentation to the Missouri Farm Bureau’s State Resolutions Committee at the invitation of Farm Bureau President Blake Hurst. As I prepared, I found myself reflecting on the similar challenges faced by our state’s farmers and rural health care providers.

Ambulance and fire districts deserve a part of federal funds

    Emergency responders in the southern half of Crawford County have a legitimate complaint about the distribution of payments from the federal government, or lack thereof, the county receives each year. And the county, it seems, made their case even stronger last year when they got voter approval for a new sales tax that included the elimination of county property taxes.
