Twenty-four high school students have been selected to the District Honor Choir, the top choir in the Central District. Selected students have been invited to rehearse and perform in November, showcasing the skills that got them selected.

Work on an easement near the Walmart Distribution Center is underway to help alleviate water runoff between the facility and residences in the area. The city has dug a trench in the easement to catch water, but the source of the problem has yet to be identified.
Carl Redburn, former Assistant Chief of the St. James Fire Protection District, has retired after 37 years of service to the district and St. James community.
Changes are coming in October for municipal utility customers who are delinquent or require reconnection. The St. James City Council approved last month, on the recommendation of the Utility Board, to increase the reconnect fees to $50 as well as not reconnecting utilities after regular business hours for those paying a bill late.
The city of St. James will hold a public forum on a proposed use tax on Thursday, October 17, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the James Memorial Public Library.
